There Are Three Things In Life That Don’t Lie

I wish you luck trying to find who said it first.
Scanning the interwebs this afternoon I came across this, Two girls barred from United flight for wearing leggings. Intrigued I clicked on the link to read these opening paragraphs.
A United Airlines gate agent barred two girls from boarding a flight Sunday morning because the girls were wearing leggings.
Another girl who was wearing gray leggings had to change before she was allowed to board the flight from Denver to Minneapolis, a witness said.
It happened that Shannon Watts @shannonrwatts was there to Live Tweet the exchange. Check out her Twitter feed it’s a fun read, I love people.
Luz Lazo goes on to report.
United Airlines spokesman Jonathan Guerin confirmed the two teens were not allowed on the flight. But he said they were traveling using a United employee pass and “were not in compliance with our dress code policy for company benefit travel.”
If the above is true and they were flying on a pass then I side with United. I grew up with an uncle that was a pilot and whenever we flew on the airline’s dime, we had to dress “appropriately”. At the time appropriately was an actual dress for the females while the males had to wear a jacket and tie. There were no last minute surprises at the gate, we left the house understanding and abiding by the rules. In exchange, we traveled for pennies.
As with most things, I’m sure there’s more to the story. And after some apologies and a few more comped tickets, the world will continue to revolve. But, two things need to happen. First, if United plans to enforce a dress code, then they need to do a better at defining the expectations. Expectations for both customers paying and customers flying on a pass. Secondly, they need to review how they handle their social media accounts or at least get everyone on the same page. Especially if the picture below is legit.
